Your SEO Strategy Needs to Include a Custom Theme

Last week we had a potential client looking for reasons they should not use any of the hundreds of responsive WordPress themes out there to represent their practice online. Not surprisingly this is a question we get asked often as people are always trying to save a few dollars. In fact the subject comes up so often that I thought I would take a few minutes to pass along the advice we give on the subject to all our readers.
Typically WordPress themes are designed to look pretty and they for the most part ignore best practices for faster load times. Almost always search engine optimization is an afterthought with them.
Obviously with Infinity Dental Web being one of the premier Dental SEO companies on the planet, we just can’t advise our clients to use an off the shelf theme and then expect to see the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS) behaving the way we want them to. With our custom built themes our technical team has taken every step to make our responsive sites the fastest performing, SEO dominating, sites on the internet and here’s part of how we do it.
- We start all of our sites with the Genesis WordPress framework that is proven to be fast and efficient, then we custom code our “child theme” to the specifications decided upon by our designers and clients. With experience and technical know how we are able to produce visually stunning websites without sacrificing performance.
- Our combination of server side coding eliminates large, bulky, bandwidth sucking images from being sent to small handheld devices (no stock themes are doing this) and some excellent client side code keeps everything looking crisp and clean in any size viewport.
- Before our sites go out to our content writers they are loaded with all sorts of CSS tools that allow the writers to control what content is seen by various devices giving your visitors a smoother more enjoyable user experience.
- Our custom mobile menus are designed with dental practices in mind (and obviously you will not find them on stock responsive themes).
- We also take the time to minimize your code and images, and set up some of the most advanced server side caching techniques available in WordPress today.
- When we’re finished with your site it goes onto one of our state of the art dedicated servers offering up some of the fastest and most reliable hosting in the business.
In the modern SEO world proper site design is critical and not where you want to be skimping if you plan to run a productive online marketing campaign. So if you are thinking about using a stock theme give us a call first and let us talk you out of it. It will be time and money well spent.
