What’s missing on your dental website?

Last month I raised a question on how well your website converts patients. Without going into detail about the previous blog post, basic tips were offered about elements that should be on the home page. If you like, you can refer back to that blog post by clicking here.
Whether you are a general dentist or cosmetic dentist, don’t forget to include some basic building blocks on your website that are often overlooked.
At Infinity Dental Web we know what those missing building blocks are through continuous industry research. Then we implement those elements into the websites we design and manage. Here are some items listed below. But, we have many other great tips that we’ll be glad to share.
About the doctor page is very important.
Not often overlooked, but this page is frequently missing important information. This page is one of the most frequently visited pages on the website, so use it to your advantage by displaying a professional looking photo of the doctor. Also include a bio about the doctor to include his or her education and background. Be sure to include any continuing education and/or special training along with images or logos of dental industry specific memberships and designations. As a finishing touch, add some personal information and photos of the doctor. Maybe mention a favorite hobby and something about family and pets. Don’t forget to include philanthropy. For example, some of our clients contribute to charities such as the AACD Give Back A Smile campaign, which helps victims of domestic abuse.
Dentists that offer cosmetic dentistry – don’t forget to take before and after photos of your patients!
Similar to the about the doctor page, the smile gallery is a one of the most frequently visited pages on the website. Often times we bring on new clients that offer cosmetic services, but they don’t take the time to shoot photos of their great work. Prospective patients looking for cosmetic services will research the internet to see the dentist’s work. Regardless of the dentist’s skill level, people will quickly move on to the next website if they cannot see the work. Therefore, we encourage our clients to send us before and after head shots and before and after close-up smile photos of their patients. The smile gallery layout is also very important, which I will write about and show examples of in my next post.
If you don’t think an about the staff page is important, think again!
Dentists often forget to add this page on their websites, because they don’t think prospective patients are interested in the staff, but they really are. At Infinity Dental Web, we insist on including a staff page with photos and bios of each team member. Included in each bio is the education and experience, what the person likes most about his or her job, and something fun about themselves. Remember, if someone has never been to your practice, they’ll want to learn all they can about the dentist and staff on your website. This page is one where you can put someone’s dental fear to rest, so use it to your advantage.
‘A picture is worth a thousand words.’ Well, it’s an old phrase, but it’s really true in this case. And it may be the tipping point in getting a patient conversion.
Show off your beautiful, clean office and high-tech equipment, or perhaps you have spa-like amenities by providing an office tour. Make your first-time patients feel welcome with photos. Build patients’ confidence by showing them that their first visit to your practice will be a pleasant experience. Further, they’ll want to be ensured that your office is clean and up to date, which signifies quality dental care.
