Dentistry is always blending science and art together. We at IDW pride ourselves with working with the leading cosmetic dentists. We love seeing technology adapt and create something beautiful. But dentistry is always changing, just like the marketing techniques we use to promote your practice! In 2017 the thing that is evolving the most is how we consume information. Video is the leading way for people to consume media across all social media platforms.
Why is that? Video is not only easier on the viewer, meaning they do less work to consume it, but video allows the subjects to show off their more authentic selves. Take a look a this dentist’s video. He is infamous for singing covers of famous songs, and including dental facts along the way.
Am I telling you to start going to karaoke every weekend and filming yourself? No not at all! But, videos can certainly help take your practice to the next level. Video increases trust and familiarity with your practice. It also helps spread dental facts and encouraging proper oral hygiene. When patients enjoy the content you are putting out, they are more likely to keep their appointments! Not to mention, your staff will love be able to express themselves creatively a little during the day. Here are a few ways you can include video in your social media strategy, while still being your authentic self.
Facebook Live
Facebook Live is what people think of first when they think of video marketing in 2017. Many ‘regular patrons’ of Facebook use it to keep up with daily doings, and businesses are no different. Facebook Live allows you to directly interact with people who are watching you. This makes it great for doing Q&A’s, introducing staff members, and spreading dental awareness. This platform is also super easy to use. With just a click of a button while on mobile, and you’re on your way!
Snapchat
Another infamous medical professional that uses video to their advantage, is Dr. Miami. Dr. Miami is a plastic surgeon out of Florida that has an assistant SnapChat his daily procedures. These can be pretty gruesome, but many people enjoy watching and learning along the way. If you have younger patients, or do a lot of full smile makeovers-SnapChat will help you connect with your patients. Luckily, most of your staff probably has this app on their phone already! IDW’s Social Media Director also offers video coaching for any practice interested in implementing this tactic!
Instagram Live
Instagram Live is very similar to Facebook live in how you would use the platform, but if offers more in terms of video quality. While Facebook live gives you a wider audience, Instagram offers HD content and you can save the content afterwards. This means you can search one video, and use it multiple ways after the fact. This platform is definitely more popular with younger audience (think under 35), but reusing videos is definitely an upside!
We can use your videos in a variety of ways to help you practice. We can post videos for you to various channels, as well as reposting them when they become relevant again. IDW can include video in emails and on your website as well! Video is taking the world by storm, and we want to make sure your practice is leading the way!
