The Social Blog

I think everybody knows by now that social media and blogging go hand in hand. One of the things I think we do best here is creating truly customized material. As of know, we use no formula or template to design or create anything within our social media department. No two of our Twitter, Facebook, or blog experiences is remotely similar. This is especially true of our blogs. No two of our social blogs have even the same theme. Every theme, background, header, icon, logo, not to mention the written content, is formulated specifically for one client and one client only. This takes much more time and effort than the template strategy most companies use but creating individuality is something we pride ourselves on. The experience on your social blog will never be the same as anyone else: we promise.
In order to create a creative and original blog, we first ask the client about themselves, both professionally and personally. What are they most proud of? What does their practice stand for? What are their interests, passions, ideas? The answers not only help to create interesting blog content, they actually help us design the blog appearance as well. With these answers, we are no longer pulling ideas out of thin air. They serve as a starting ground for our inspiration and make the blog look as if it’s coming from the client, and not someone 3,000 miles away.
For all these reasons, allow me to vent my frustrations when I get these questions back and they are filled with bland, generic answers that provide no help whatsoever. I know you’re proud of your cosmetic dentistry work but for social media, I was hoping for something a little more personal. People can read all about your cosmetic dentistry accomplishments on your website. Your hobbies include travel and cooking? Color me surprised. Everybody likes to travel and eat; how about some specifics? Tell me about your favorite author, love of U.S. history, passion for baking scones, or Japanese architecture These are all specific, quirky, interesting ideas that give you personality and inspire us to give you a voice.
We never give a time limit with these questions; they can take as long as they need with it. I just wish some more thought would go into the answers. Stop being be afraid to put yourself out there. It’s called social media for a reason. If you have a chance to showcase your personality; take it. It’s not going to make you seem unprofessional, it’s going to make you seem human.
