Stalking the Mailman

In an effort to clear the clutter, a new company out of Austin Texas is taking the task of waiting on the postman and sorting through the junk out of your busy day. Outbox was founded just last year by a pair of Harvard classmates to help organize our lives.
I know I’m easily impressed by technology but the process starts off with you taking a picture of your mail key and sending it to them, they can make a copy off of that. How cool (and kind of freaky) is that? They pick up your snail mail three times a week and scan it at their secure warehouse and you can view it from anywhere on your iPad or on the internet.
If you have a package delivered, the “unpostman” will deliver it to your door or front desk that day. Should you get a piece of mail that is important to you and you want to keep it in its original form, all you have to do is request it and they will deliver it right to you.
There is a bit of saving the trees happening since you can easily unsubscribe from any junk mailings that make their way into your mailbox. With just a click from you, Outbox sends the mail back to the sender and requests that you be removed from their mailing list. Outbox shreds any unrequested mail after 30 days so you’re sure that your unwanted paper is being recycled with no effort on your part.
Being able to access your mail from anywhere, organize it in folders, share it with others, and create a “to do” list will surely leave you with new time on your hands. Make it count!
So far, the only ones benefiting from this innovative new service are in Austin and San Francisco. Here’s hoping their growth is faster than a snail’s pace!
