Poetry, SEO, and Freedom
Date: June 19, 2013Category: Author: Michael Brinson In copy-cat fashion, I have decided to adopt Tyler’s idea and add my own poetic contribution to the newly founded Infinity Dental Web Poetry Corner. This week’s installment incorporates my thoughts on freedom and the disturbing trends we have seen in the last several years in the United States and throughout the world. As an aside, I have to take a little credit for the artsy photo that Tyler has attached to his last poetry post. No, I didn’t draw it, but I discovered the tool that aided in its creation. Anyway, without further ado…
New with the dawn of each coming day There are choices to make of what we will say But before the speech, first the thought must take root And then from the word grows the action to boot
Do we stand independent, understanding the notion That actions and choices, drop by drop form an ocean? True – United We Stand, and Divided We Fall But today’s brand of unity is not unity at all The original brand that was worth a defense Was made up of vision, understanding, and credence In the true principles of individualism and the duty That such a belief carries with it – so truly Our nation’s old motto – In God Is Our Trust By some now is instead – In Google We Trust But trusting in Google is the errand of fools Always changing the story and changing the rules One day you’re on top, then the next you’re on bottom Be it Summer in June, winter, or autumn Still, forward we push with that true independence That comes as we seek for a measured affluence But oh.. That’s a sin! We hear many to say You can’t be so selfish and greedy that way That kind of thinking, it’s so often the case Comes from minds set on ease and dependence apace It also exudes from where love has waxed cold Assuming the worst – to see man’s cruelty unfold What we give out is what we receive If we want freedom, we must trust and believe Woah! I must say, that is pretty impressive for a non-art major. (At least I impressed myself) 😉(Visited 84 times, 1 visits today)
