Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
We’re feeling pretty good right now. A competitor in the dental websites niche, eDoctorWeb, thinks that we have great stuff. We know this because they have copied key marketing messages from our company website. We discovered them this past week. This is better than a great online review.
In the first panel under the header of the home page of our company website we have the headline:
We’re Infinity Dental Web.
We create custom websites and effective marketing strategies for discerning dental practices.
On the eDoctorWeb home page, in the third panel down, they have the headline:
We are eDoctorWeb,
We create Web Sites and Strategic Digital Marketing for
While they could use a little help with their English (they use the older term web site in the headline, but the newer term website in the body) they clearly like our approach!
But it gets better. Under that headline, they have copied our text verbatim. Here are side-by-side screen shots:
What’s particularly amazing is that they get exactly the same results as we do—they triple the traffic of their clients in the first 18 months and get a 75% increase for them year after year. But with them, it is even more amazing than with us, and here is why. Our research shows that they have been in business only ten months. While these 18-month and year-after-year results are hard for a company like ours with a 9-year history, it is extremely difficult for a company with a 10-month history. I just want to say, “Wow!”
And it keeps on going.
Here is another comparison of home page screen shots—third panel down for us, bottom panel for them:
And again, the speed with which they have done this is the most amazing part. While it has taken us years to assemble this team, they have apparently equaled our task in a few months.
They apparently have mimicked our marketing strategies so well that they not only get the exact same statistical results using a crack team similar to ours, they are producing qualitative results that are so similar that they are getting similar reviews. Here is what one of our clients said about us a couple of years ago, side-by-side with what one of their clients said about them in the last few months:
You’ve got to give it to them, the folks at eDoctorWeb.
And thank you, of course, for the high compliment. We are indeed flattered.
