Going Mobile

Smartphones and tablets (I-pad, Kindle, Galaxy, etc.) are becoming more popular, and 50% of local searches are being done on these mobile devices. In fact, Morgan Stanley analysts believe that by the year 2015, the mobile web will overtake desktop Internet usage if it continues at the current rate.
The majority of websites are not optimized for mobile viewing, and this can be a nightmare for the user. The smaller screens, possible lack of flash, and various web browsers may display your original site in a manner that is virtually unusable for the viewer. A mobile version of your website should be faster, sleeker, and more responsive than a traditional site. It should be easy to navigate and use as few keystrokes as possible. Mobile websites do not necessarily need to contain all the information as your traditional site, but the user should be give the option to view it if desired. Search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing index mobile sites differently from non-mobile sites and are developing tools to help meet the demand.
I encourage you to take a look at your website on your mobile phone or tablet. Now think about the expression, “You only have one chance to make a good first impression.” What impression does YOUR website give? While it may look beautiful and easy to navigate on a desktop or laptop computer, chances are it is not mobile friendly.
