Botox used by dentists – it’s not just for removing wrinkles

Did you know that you can visit a dentist for an oral examination, teeth cleaning, and while you’re already nice and relaxed in the dental chair, wrinkle reduction too? Yes, ladies and gentleman, it is becoming more common these days among dentists to inject Botox into patients during their dental visits.
Surprisingly, Botox not only reduces fine lines to make people look younger, but there are many other uses for this chemical that are being discovered all the time, as you can see below:
And now dentists have started using Botox for TMJ patients too. I recently learned about this from one of our clients, Dr. Duane Delaune. He injects Botox into patients who suffer from migraines, one of many TMJ symptoms. This peaked my curiosity, so I began searching for more information about using Botox on people with TMJ. I found this very interesting video on YouTube. It was produced by television show, The Doctors. In this case, the woman suffering from TMJ has sleep apnea too. She had been suffering for years due to clenching her jaws, which is one of the symptoms of TMJ. Watch how she is instantly relieved from pain after the doctor injects Botox into her jaw muscle.
This woman has tried everything to relieve her pain – night guards, surgery, and is now using Botox. Unfortunately Botox only lasts three to four months, but in some cases injecting Botox into the jaw muscle can actually break the habit of clenching the jaw.
At Infinity Dental Web, we charge our clients monthly maintenance fees, and once in a while we are asked by them what is included in the maintenance. Well, here’s an example why. After realizing that Dr. Delaune uses Botox to treat TMJ symptoms (migraines), I searched his website to see if this was mentioned and found nothing. My next step is to contact Dr. Delaune to get this added onto his website. Part of the reason we charge maintenance is that we are constantly looking for ways to improve our clients traffic and patient conversion. I may ask the content writer who is assigned to their account to write a blog post about this too.
