How “Social” is Your Practice?

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media outlets. Google+ is the newest kid on the block, now offering the ability to create a business page for your practice. (Check out our Infinity Dental Web page on Google+.)
Many of our clients are overwhelmed and say that they just don’t have time for social media. I encourage to them to start slow, and slowly build up their social media presence. A great way to think about social media is that it is just another way for your practice to be seen on a personal level. By interacting and communicating with patients on a personal basis, perhaps that “dread” of going to the dentist can be overcome. Your patients will grow to see you as a friend and can even learn more about your practice “personality” by witty posts or comments. It is perfectly acceptable to let a bit of your personal life shine through. If you are involved in your community, expanding your services, running promotions or contests, social media is the best way to get that information to potential patients. It really doesn’t take much time either. Best practice would be to assign the responsibilities to one or two people in your office, and have them spend approx. 30 minutes per week checking accounts and interacting with patients on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.
That’s all it takes!
