5 Stars to Rule them All

Internet marketing can be more than a little overwhelming at times. It’s a clawing, scrapping, blood-letting battle to the top of Mt. Google, and when you get to the top your only view is of the reverse avalanche of ever-encroaching climbers nipping at your heals. Often times, any upper hand or competitive edge is like an oasis in a desert, but as any survivalist would teach you, you need to learn to recognize what mother nature gives to you. Even in the harshest of environments there is life.
Most would say that Google dislikes or even hates SEO folks, and that it is their ultimate goal to exile us from their domain. However, it isn’t as straightforward as this. We have to play by the rules that are given to us and with the resources that are available. In my opinion, Google wants two things. The first is to provide quality search results for their users, and with that comes a more difficult path for those who would cheat, steal, and manipulate the system to the top. And Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, Google wants to make money. These two obviously go hand in hand, because if it’s easy to get to the top with a sub-bar website, what’s the point in paying for their services?
So, in an attempt to provide a quality product for their average user, Google does have some vested interested in people like us optimizing websites. After all, not everyone is going to pay for their services, and many people don’t even trust these sites in the ad section. Perhaps the most interesting resource we can harvest from Google is the newest structured data language of Schema.org. This is the newest unseen facilitator on the web, and Google wants us to use it. The internet is constantly being indexed and search engines often infer certain information that applies to your business like your business name address via listings and content on your website. Schema.org markup is just a more refined micro-data language that acts behind the scenes to identify valid information to more or less tell Google what’s what.
So here we are, we’ve climbed to the top of Mt. Google: a page one ranking for your well-researched search term. There are still at least 9 others standing around you, with varying degrees of triumph. Even if some have managed to crawl a bit higher to the very peak, you must learn from your treacherous journey of harvesting what the landscape has given you. There are still chances to shine brighter than those above you. With the proper markup, your site can have blazing rating stars across the breast of your listing! At Infinity Dental web we have reworked and modified a reviews plugin with the most up to date structured data to help you shine even brighter than those above you. With that added boost of click through traffic, you may even get that extra edge to fight your way to the top.
