1991 – Published landmark research on tooth whitening, “Should etching be performed as a part of a vital bleaching technique?” Quintessence International, September 1991. In this widely quoted research, he established that the then prevalent practice of etching teeth prior to bleaching them was unnecessary. In accomplishing this research, he invented the split-arch technique for evaluating bleaching effectiveness, a technique that has since been widely copied.
