“You’re off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so…get on your way!”
These unforgettable words from Theodor Geisel—or Dr. Seuss as most of us know him—have never been more true than right now for our Infinity Dental Web scholarship award recipients. As these young people embark on their collegiate journey, we’re honored to play a small part in helping them achieve their educational goals.
The Infinity Dental Web scholarship is awarded to a student who writes the best essay of all applicants on the theme of the year. We thank all of our scholarship applicants and wish each of them the best of luck in their educational endeavors and we send a big Congratulations! to all of our award recipients.
Gemma is currently enrolled in California State University Long Beach where she is studying Marketing and Creative Writing. She hopes to graduate in the Spring of 2020. The essay question that Gemma responded to was:
Identify a family dental practice that provides a basic level of dental care to a middle-class clientele. It can be your own dentist or any dentist, as long as the practice has a website. Please identify the practice by giving us the URL of their website. Visualize yourself as a marketing professional who has been hired to help transform this practice to a high-end practice focusing on smile makeovers and catering to a high-income clientele. Describe how you would brand this practice. Give a specific and detailed critique of what you would do to change their website.

Milby is from the Houston area, and in fall 2016 she will be a junior at Baylor University, majoring in marketing and minoring in French. The question Milby responded to was:

Please identify the practice by giving us the URL of their website. Milby’s essay impressed us with its grasp of sound marketing principles. She chose a dental practice in Katy, Texas, near Houston, and developed a plan for changing the online branding of the practice that we thought would actually work. She correctly identified the importance of the color scheme of the website, the quality of the images on the site, and the importance of having a more professional, less pushy, tone to the copy.

Interested in pursuing a career in media and communications, Evodia attends the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in Baltimore, Maryland where she’s studying media and communications with a focus on advertising. The question Evodia responded to was:
Visualize yourself as a marketing professional who has been hired by a dental practice. What marketing messages would you use, why would you use them, and how would you convey them?
Evodia’s hypothetical marketing campaign centered around the pragmatism of choosing a dentist, and stressed a hassle-free process and hygienic environment. When not dreaming up marketing campaigns and applying for scholarships, Evodia works at UMBC overseeing events in the Commons and University Center buildings and taking notes for students with disabilities. Evodia has dedicated her last four summers as a camp counselor for both 4-H and city summer camp programs.
