Anna Bose- Content Writer at IDW
First/Last Name: Anna Bose (it’s pronounced AHHnah and just like rose, but with a b.)
Job Title/Duties: Content Writer
Best and Worst part about your job?
There is no worst part. I love working with IDW. It allows me to focus on the craft of clear writing. It’s such a relief after years of having to write marketing copy! (Awww, we love having you Anna!)
What do you like to do outside of work?
Laugh, talk, love, meditate, be outside, walk by the lake, listen to the waves, talk to the trees, swim, play with my kittens, play guitar, write songs, sing, take afternoon naps, talk to my sisters, did I mention laughing?
What was your first job? Any funny stories?
Second violinist in a string quartet. We did a lot of weddings, and Earl, our cellist, always played much better after we got a little champagne into him. (Don’t we all Earl, don’t we all…)
Who inspires you and why?
Amma. She’s the happiest person I’ve ever met. She’s my spiritual mother. She spends her life traveling around the world hugging people and listening to their joys and sorrows. She owns nothing. She gives everything.
What would you sing on Karaoke night?
“Almost Cut My Hair” by Crosby Stills Nash and Young (I feel like I owe it to someone).
What is the most unique thing you’ve ever eaten?
I spent three weeks in Amma’s ashram in Kerala, India in September 2009. My room looked out over the Arabian Sea, and it was just at the end of the monsoon, so there were beautiful storms rolling in all the time. I ate the regular ashram fare, which was rice with different vegetables every day, very spicy. Every once in a while, they would include a sweet flavored with milk and cardamom. It was the most exquisite thing I’ve ever tasted.
If you had to describe yourself using one animal, what would it be and why?
I’m a quiet person with a fierce spirit that only a few people know about. I recently found a magnet at the grocery that says, “Godzilla is my spirit animal.” I laughed harder than I have in a long time.
