Facebook Services Steps to Yelp

Poised to be a battle as epic as the one between the Tupac and Biggie, it seems Facebook is steppin’ to Yelp.
Earlier today, Sreedev Sharma stumbled across a new feature that, until now, Facebook was quietly testing. Naturally, when social media thought leaders and influencers caught wind, we had to break the news.
It seems Facebook is coppin’ the game of referral directories Yelp and Angie’s List. Unannounced and available only on the desktop, Facebook Services features a clean, modern user interface. Users enter the service they’re searching for along with the city in which they’re looking and presto, a list of service providers at their fingertips.
Rumors are that the results are organized by review, which isn’t my experience, as you see in the screen grab. My best guess is that Facebook is developing some type of algorithm that balances average review, number of reviews, distance, and page engagement.
In addition to the search function, Services lists more than 80 categories near the bottom of the page.
This offering mirrors recent products released by Amazon (Amazon Home Services and the Echo) and Google (Home Services Ads currently in the beta-testing process in San Francisco).
Stay tuned, this beef over turf could get interesting. Either way Today Was a Good Day for Sharma, a social media manager from India.
